Hotels in Ft Myers North

The major attraction in Fort Myers are the beaches. The soft powdery sands of Sanibel and Captiva are a allure that many can not resist. Further south is Fort Myers beach, popular with the younger crowds and spring breakers and lined with many Hotels, Resorts and Restaurants.
The new Southwest International Airport (RSW) is now a major hub with ever increasing traffic with over 7 million passenger a year. The airport serves 32 domestic destinations including Dusseldorf, Munich and Frankfurt, Toronto and Montreal. This Fort Myers Airport has a number of Hotels close-by some of them offering a free airport shuttle.
The airport has all the major car rental agencies either on-site or nearby. Taxis and Limousine service is also available. The cost of a one way fare to Fort Myers is around $35 for three passengers. Additionally there is a Taxi booth and a Ground Transportation booth outside and a Visitors bureau inside.
Few destinations in the world have an abundance of uninterrupted sandy beaches. The subtropical weather and the warm waters of the Gulf makes this a fantasy vacation destination. Each beach has a character of its own, due to the unique geography and differing sand quality. There is something for every one, the children will enjoy making sandcastles, the couples will savour the heavenly sunsets, the active will enjoy volleyball, picnics and cycling. On Sanibel everyone will enjoy shelling.
There are almost 50 miles of beaches and 20 beaches to explore in the region. The main ones are Captiva (quiet), Bowditch(wild natural), Bowmans (walking), Lynn Hall (sports), Gasparilla Island(Lighthouse Museum), North Captiva and Cayo Costa(access by boat only), Sanibel Causeway(fishing and water sports), Fort Myers Beach(young), Turner Beach(surfcasting), Dog Beach(pets), Bonita Beach(picnic, shelling), Blind Pass(shelling), and Lovers Key(couples).
Shelling is a popular pastime of the tourists. A visit to the shell museum on Sanibel is a real treat and will delight the kids. Common shell found on the beaches include Alphabet Cone, Atlantic Scallop, Common Nutmeg, Angel Wing, Common Jingle Shell, Horse Counch, and Lightning whelk.
The weather is the real draw for the region. Slightly warmer than Orlando, Fort Myers has an average temperature of 78 degrees F (25 degrees C) with a summer average high of 85 degrees(30 degrees C) and a winter low of 67 degrees(19 degrees C).
